free non self-signed SSL cert

hi there!

i have a reseller account and am test-driving the addition of my personal domain (for familiarity and for troubleshooting) before opening up to my clients.

In using cPanel to generate a SSL cert, it registers as self-signed. Understood, that makes sense, but various help articles on KH imply that there's a free Lets Encrypt option that I presume would not be self-signed? I can't seem to make that happen - one of the help articles implies there's a SSL/TLS --> Manage AutoSSL option that I do not have visible in my WHM. If I go to "SSL/TLS Status", there's a place to "Run AutoSSL", but this seems to link back to my self-generated cert.

Am I missing or misunderstanding something here?

Thanks!

Hello!

Manage AutoSSL option is an option in WHM for users who have root, it allows the control of all SSL Certificates across the entire server. It would not be an option available to Resellers.

For Resellers, you would need to login to each cPanel account navigating to SSL/TLS as you have done. Clicking "Run AutoSSL" will generate a signed Let's Encrypt certificate if the domain passed DCV (Domain control validation) checks.

You would have reported errors in that same screen if it was unable to do so. This process is additionally ran automatically per day.

If you're not seeing a signed certificate by Let's Encrypt, it is possible there may be something wrong behind the scenes and would require a support ticket.

ah got it. I think maybe this is a result of me jumping a few steps as I'm finalizing the migration of my website from my old host. I'll troubleshoot a bit more and open up a support ticket if i can't figure it out.

Thanks!
