Tip: Programmatically telling what node you are on

The first hop out of the VPS has changed to a completely different IP...one that does not report it's host name, I would imagine that has to do with KH. The google DNS server I'm routing to just happens to be the test IP I'm using.

Tip: Programmatically telling what node you are on

    So this broke. I see a traceroute now does not return what it used to. traceroute 8.8.4.4 traceroute to 8.8.4.4 (8.8.4.4), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 (199.193.177.31) 0.044 ms 0.045 ms 0.038 ms 2 216.211.135.114 (216.211.135.114) 0.621 ms 0.627 ms 0.660 ms 3...

Unable to reach csf download server

Oddly I just tried it again and it worked even though the update failed last night. I'll keep an eye on it. There seems to be more complaints about the same thing.. http://forum.configserver.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8803

Unable to reach csf download server

I haven't opened a ticket yet. I thought it would be a temporary problem. My other VPS in WA has no problem doing a wget https://download.configserver.com But from the dedicated server it times out. I'll poke around a little more before submitting a ticket.

Unable to reach csf download server

For the past few days I've been getting the following csf error from the cron on my dedicated server. Oops: Unable to download: Can't connect to download.configserver.com:443 (No route to host) I found this lone thread about the issue http://forum.configserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=8563 I get a...

Force software updates on WordPress Hosting?

Making sure all installs are up to date is hardly the "nuclear" option. And keeping the core up to date is obviously the first defense against known attacks. My script's goal is to easily deploy WP security updates to all installs on the server, which it succeeds in quite well for my situation...

Force software updates on WordPress Hosting?

Yes, quote it without the context of I personally know all 5 people with WP installs, aside from my own 3 from it. Because what fun is leaving the context in if ruins your snide remark? I'll say again, my situation is very specific, so I posted it in case anyone else was in a similar...

Force software updates on WordPress Hosting?

I have a VPS with several wordpress sites (all people I know, so your situation might be different) I subscribe to WP release update emails. I use a bash script that, when (manually) run, will automatically downloads the latest WP package, searches the drive for any WP installs, and slaps it...

    Glue records?

Oh I found it. Thanks! I misread your post and was looking in the wrong spot.

    Glue records?

I already have the name server *domain names* defined for the domain at godaddy (I haven't touched it as the domain names of the name servers never changed). Godaddy does not allow you to define IP addresses with the domain names, just domain names as name servers. "Edit Nameservers" only...

    Glue records?

Nothing has changed at the registrar. The domain (registered at godaddy) points to my private name servers at the same domain. My understanding was the "glue" records in the domain's DNS record is what resolves the recursive nature of having name servers at the same domain. As far as godaddy...

    Glue records?

    Packet loss

I seem to be experiencing some packet loss on SSD09. Usually you guys are on top of things like this so I wonder if it's something else or just a very low level of packet loss that isn't throwing flags. It's a VPS account thats only a few days old and has one test site on it with zero load...

In that case, thank you! You guys rock. Now just waiting on the release of a fully secure patch..

    BASHpocalypse

I noticed my VPS's were patched (at least with the initial patch)...was that the OS patching itself, cPanel, or KH?

Don't require root password just to look into a ticket

I submitted a ticket today because the server load was very high. Now of course the first thing I do when I see high load is to see if there is a reason for it in my VPS. I felt from what I could tell, it wasn't my VPS causing the issue, so I submitted a ticket asking to look into the SSD14...
